Read MoreHide Full Article

Key Takeaways

  • DuPont launches Tyvek with Renewable Attribution globally for Consumer & Industrial applications.
  • Renewable attribution ranges from 30% to 100%, using ISCC PLUS-certified bio-circular materials.
  • At 30% attribution, Tyvek supports about a 30% carbon-footprint reduction compared with standard Tyvek.

DuPont de Nemours, Inc. (DD - Free Report) announced an expansion of its bio-circular materials portfolio with the global launch of Tyvek with Renewable Attribution for Consumer & Industrial (C&I) applications. The new offering enables customers to reduce the carbon footprint of products through Scope 3 emissions reduction without having to change existing designs or processes.

Tyvek with Renewable Attribution is designed for applications including active packaging, tags and labels, race bibs and wristbands, as well as industrial packaging such as art packaging, dunnage and industrial bags. The product is available with renewable attribution levels ranging from 30% to 100%, linked to ISCC PLUS-certified bio-circular materials through a mass-balance approach.

The renewable feedstocks are derived from second-generation biomass, including waste and residues that do not compete with food production. At the 30% renewable attribution level, the product supports an approximately 30% reduction in carbon footprint, including CO2 uptake, compared with standard Tyvek, based on peer-reviewed, ISO-compliant life-cycle assessment data.

Importantly, the new Tyvek offering is produced to the same specifications as conventional Tyvek, eliminating the need for requalification. This could facilitate faster and simpler adoption among existing customers. DuPont’s Luxembourg and Richmond manufacturing sites are ISCC PLUS-certified and undergo annual third-party audits. The launch supports the company’s broader sustainability strategy and efforts to advance circularity and reduce the environmental footprint of its products.
